New Website and members "nuked"

Postby Vector » Sat Jan 31, 2009 2:44 am

I came to log into website tonight and proceeded to lock myself out because my password no longer worked. I go to check my profile page and realized that I've been suspended, my logbook flight hours deleted (back to zero) and my Vatsim ID deleted also. Seems that it's same deal for many others as I see a bunch of POE members who have been "flushed". Spring cleaning comes early to vPorter!! What gives or is this management's way of making us "walk the plank" for not flying enough hours? :x :?:

No no. Server error. Check your e-mail. Your back on the roster with everything back to normal. I am just going to move this to the website portion of this forum. I expect a bit of issues but not many. Some links are broken but everything is being fixed by the 1st of Febuary.

For how long have our Human Resources messages been coming from Canadian Virtual Airlines? What else has vPorter been up to?

Is there a problem during the web site transitions Jamie? They were kind enough to share their bandwidth with us during the change and they are a trusted alliance.

Mr. Arkell nailed it. This new interface is step one in a large change from an operational standpoint. Canadian Virtual Airlines and vPorter are sharing bandwidth and server space until a full move is accomplished.

All of the e-mails remain the same as before however you may receive e-mails from a flycav.com based address (due to the above stated). As stated elsewhere in the forum, there are broken links throughout the website and we are working through the weekend to fix this (I am posting at 2:46am right now :D).

The vPorterACARS is soon to follow. Once the ACARS is out, everything will make sense. If you need assistance with regards to website orientation or have general inquiries, we encourage you to make use of the forums or use our new Contact Us page.

We appreciate your patience through this transition phase and look forward to your reaction once this change is complete.

Michael, thank you for filling us in on what vPorter has been doing. You have answered in great detail as to what has been happening, and have shed light into the backoffice of a successful virtual airline and how it is run. Like as the other pilots I not only appreciate your hard effort into running this airline, but appreciate you explaining things that spark curiosity as to vPorter.

Glad to hear that this is all just part of a website revamp and not some major "housecleaning" on management's part to get rid of us "low hour" pilots! :D I had not flown for VPorter in several weeks and knew I needed to file some hours ASAP. Then I log in to do a flight and see my stats wiped clean and started to panic. Didn't think I was beyond 30 days so was quite baffled and more than a bit upset as I thought "they've given me the boot and not even had the moxy to send me an email first! Anyways - thanks for getting us back to duty and anxious to try out the new ACARS soon!! :)

All the hours have been carried over from the old site and database and we do not see them because they have not been recorded into this database by the new system. When you go into your Pilot CP you will see the forwarded hours, however no flights will be in your logbook.

We do have a record of all previous flights so do not worry.

A side note, until the ACARS comes out, any flights on VATAWARE will be recorded by our staff. Once again the flight's won't show up but the hours will be reflected. This does not mean that when the ACARS comes out you will not have to use it.
